The Best of Nashville

I love traveling and exploring new places, which is why when I was presented with the opportunity to live in Nashville for 3 months I was over the moon. This is my ultimate guide with the best restaurants, bars and activities! If you're looking for any other restaurants, activities, bars or anything else you can think of check out www.nashvilleguru.com!

Hattie B's Hot Chicken

Hattie B's, 19th Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

One of the best places for Nashville famous hot chicken. If you're going around lunch or dinner be prepared to wait in a line. Definitely get the hot chicken (I love the sandwich) and the mac & cheese side.

Edley's Bar-B-Que

Edley's Bar-B-Que, 12th Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

The brisket runs out daily and I highly recommend getting the brisket sandwich if available. If not you can't go wrong with the pulled pork sandwich. Mac & cheese side is great. On Wednesday Bushwackers (alcoholic milkshake) are $5 all day. Large selection of beers on tap as well.

Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint

Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint, 4th Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

You can't go wrong with anything. The Alabama White sauce is my favorite. I always get the Alabama white wings or the pulled pork sandwich. The mac & cheese is unbelievable as well as the cornbread, which is more like a potato pancake.

Pancake Pantry

Pancake Pantry, 21st Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

Unbelievable pancakes. Be prepared to wait in line for over an hour (it's well worth it). You can't go wrong with anything, but a favorite is the Sweet Potato pancake if you like cinnamon. Syrups are homemade and made daily.

Jackson's Bar & Bistro

Jackson's Bar & Bistro, 21st Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

Food is standard and nothing special. It is worth it for the dessert. I have a huge sweet tooth and the Cookie Dough Egg Rolls are the most amazing dessert that has ever entered my mouth! This is a MUST for anyone and everyone.

Jack's Bar-B-Que

Jack's Bar-B-Que, Broadway, Nashville, TN, United States

Great casual BBQ right on Broadway (downtown). The ribs fall right off the bony and are extremely tasty! Cornbread and mac & cheese are great. So many different BBQ sauce flavors to choose from, or just try them all. Great outdoor area to eat on a nice day.

Biscuit Love

Biscuit Love Gulch, 11th Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

Two different locations (one in the Gulch and the other in Hillsboro Village). Quick delicious bite for breakfast or lunch. Lines can be out the door depending on your timing.

Prince's Hot Chicken Shack

Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, Ewing Drive, Nashville, TN, United States

This joint has been around for 100 years and rated as the #1 spot for hot chicken in all of Nashville by Thrillist. Even the mild sauce is very very hot. I'd bring a glass of milk with you!

Merhcants Restaurant

Merchants Restaurant, Broadway, Nashville, TN, United States

Great location on Broadway with three levels. 1st floor is bistro and casual. 2nd is fine dining and the 3rd is used for private events. I sat on the 1st floor and had the Cheetos crusted mac & cheese per my waiter's recommendation. Not your typical mac & cheese, but definitely one of the best. A must try!

Loveless Cafe and Motel

Loveless Cafe, Tennessee 100, Nashville, TN, United States

Roughly 30 minutes outside of the city to the middle of nowhere, but well-worth the drive. If you hate biscuits you'll be in love after this restaurant!

Fido

Fido, 21st Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

Coffee shop with cool vibes. A converted pet shop with gourmet coffee.

The Flipside

The Flipside, Nashville, TN, United States

Really cool and "different" restaurant with 50's decor and great milkshakes!

Monell's Restaurant

Monell's Dining and Catering, 6th Avenue North, Nashville, TN, United States

I highly highly highly recommend trying to fit this into your itinerary. Do not eat anything before going, you won't need to eat anything after until the next day. This is an all you can eat, family-style restaurant. The motto is "enter as strangers, leave as friends". You eat with strangers and get to know them. If the delicious southern food doesn't inspire you enough to go then the experience of it should!

Hog Heaven

Hog Heaven, 27th Avenue North, Nashville, TN, United States

Hidden gem behind Centennial Park. Strange hours, so I'd check before going, but it's a quick BBQ right next to Vanderbilt University.

The Cupcake Collection

The Cupcake Collection, 6th Avenue North, Nashville, TN, United States

Great homemade and creative cupcakes located in the Germantown neighborhood.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, 12th Avenue South, Nashville, TN, United States

Two locations: 12 South and Hillsboro Village. Different flavors made with high-quality ingredients. Get any flavor in a cone (cones are made fresh almost minutely). Sometimes in line they even have pieces of cones to munch on.

Helen's Restaurant

Helens Restaurant, South Grundy Quarles Highway, Gainesboro, TN, United States

Very close to Cummins Falls (in the middle of nowhere TN, a few hours outside of Nashville). On the side of a main road with nothing else in sight. This could be one of the best meals I've ever had. Unlimited chicken fingers and delicious sweet tea. The hot roast beef sandwich is unbelievable. The gravy is so flavorful. Dessert consists of a variety of pies that you can't go wrong with, so save room!

Cummins Falls State Park

Cummins Falls State Park, Cookeville, TN, United States

Roughly 2 hours outside of Nashville. If you're outdoorsy I highly recommend this beautiful park. There are 2 gorges and waterfalls. One is a mile hike and the other is 1.5 miles. If it's the right season and the water level isn't too high then you can go swimming at the bottom of the waterfall. Pets are allowed. Pair this activity with Helen's Restaurant.

Belle Meade Plantation, Harding Pike, Nashville, TN, United States

Take a tour of the grounds or have a wine tasting. Spend an hour or two here.

Walk the bridge that connects downtown to East Nashville. Walk across the river to Nissan Stadium to see the Tennessee Titans play or a concert.
