My husband and I went to Krabi, Thailand to ring in the 2017 New Year for 4 days, 3 nights. On this trip we mostly chilled out- got massages 2x a day and ate amazing, local food.

Phu Pi Maan Resort & Spa

Unnamed Road, Tambon Ao Nang, Amphoe Mueang Krabi, Chang Wat Krabi 81000, Thailand

4-star hotel in Krabi, Thailand surrounded by tropical greenery and a short walk or ride to Ao Nang beach.

Rooms were neat and very clean with excellent AC and amenities. Staff was friendly and helpful and there is a shuttle service that will take you down to the beach.

Only drawback (for us) was that the resort is close to a Mosque so you'll hear their call to prayer several times a day, including early morning.

Ao Nang Beach

Ao Nang Beach Ao Nang Krabi Thailand

Ao Nang Beach is your typical beach in Thailand. You cannot rent an umbrella or lounger so you'll need to be mindful of that. The beach is right along the main enclave for the area, Beach Road, which is filled with restaurants, bars and shopping.
You can purchase tickets (cash only) for the dragon boat taxis along Beach Road that will take you over to Railay Beach and to other areas only accessible by boat.

Phi Phi Islands Excusion by Speedboat

Unnamed Road, Tambon Ao Nang, Amphoe Mueang Krabi, Chang Wat Krabi 81000, Thailand

You can book a day trip from Ao Nang to the Phi Phi Islands via speedboat at any of the tour kiosks along Beach Road. Your day will start by being picked up at your hotel and the tours usually leave around 8am from the dock and you return around 5pm. Ticket prices can range so do check out a few kiosks to see if the prices fluctuate. Most tours will provide lunch and a snack, which will consist of typical foods. Be sure to wear your bathing suit as there is no where to change, and you'll want to snorkel and swim in the ocean. Don't forget a towel and sunscreen as that is not provided.

The Phi Phi Islands are beautiful and provided the backdrop of the movie The Beach.

Other boat tours will cover other island in the area, which depending on the time and money you want to spend will be up to you. I chose a tour that included Phi Phi and Hong islands.

Massage Corner

Massage Corner Ao Nang Krabi Thailand

Great place to stop for a massage. The prices are very reasonable and the site was clean with a friendly and well trained staff.

Radarom Spa

Radarom Spa Ao Nang Thailand

Great spa to stop at for a massage, scrub or steam. Very nice by western standards. Best to make an advanced booking as this place does book out regularly.

Dean and Mom's Resturant

태국크래비아오낭dean and mom's restaurant

There are TONS of restaurants to choose from with menu's that are very much the same, so how do you choose, right? Well, once we found this place it became our spot every night of the trip. Decent service, excellent food! They also have wifi, need I say more?

Prices might feel more expensive compared to Bangkok or Phuket, but that's pretty indicative of this particular region.

Railay Beach

Railay Beach Ao Nang Krabi Thailand

Another well-know beach in the area, if you aren't staying on Railay then you'll need to take a dragon boat as it's only accessible by boat due to the high limestone cliffs that cut off access to the mainland.

East Railay is the docking point for boats arriving from Krabi. It is unsuitable for swimming due to the mangroves and boat traffic. You can take the walking path to access Phra Nang Beach, along your walk you will likely encounter monkeys. They're mostly friendly but don't try to pet them and don't feed them! Obviously!

West Railay is the primary destination for beach goers and the beach is flanked by high limestone cliffs. This beach is likely the one you'll see on the postcards sold in the area. Also, do know West Railay is where you can catch a boat ferry to Phuket.
