A 24 hour layover in Shanghai where not an ounce of time was wasted exploring!

City God Temple

City God Temple, Gongyuan Road, Shanghai, China

Old Daoist Temple in the old city of Shanghai. Very cool to see the locals worshipping and experience this!

Walk along The Bund

The Bund, Zhongshan East 1st Road, Shanghai, China

Enjoy a stroll along The Bund. This is promenade along the Huangpu River, which cuts through the center of Shanghai. Great view of the skyline!

Yu Garden + Enjoy a cup of tea in the Garden

Yuyuan Garden Tea House, Shanghai, China

After walking along the Bund head through Yu Garden and stop for a cup of tea in the old Tea house.

The Old City of Shanghai

Shanghai Old City Wall and Dajing Ge Pavilion, Dajing Road, Huangpu, Shanghai, China

One of the oldest parts of the city and really highlights the old Shanghai with tons of classical Chinese buildings. The markets and bazaar surrounding this area are the highlight - don't forget to bargain a ton!

EAT in the Old City!

Nanxiang Mantou Dian, Yuyuan Road, Shanghai, China

This eatery in the center of the old city is amazing! TRY everything! The first floor is more of a grab-and-go, with seating, and upstairs is a sit down restaurant. Must try the xiaolongbao, that Shanghai is famous for!

Walk + Shop along NanJing Lu

NanJing Lu, Shanghai, China

An outdoor pedestrian mall with a ton of modern shops and restaurants. Safe to walk along during the day and at night.

Dinner & Drinks in XinTianDi

XinTianDi, Shanghai, China

A very modern entertainment district with stores and restaurants. We enjoyed dinner at an outdoor cafe and good cocktails around here! A lot of lively bars at night!

People's Square

People's Square, Shanghai, China

The Times Square (or Piccadilly Circus) of Shanghai. This is a central landmark surrounded by theaters, museums, and city hall. Very close to NanJing Lu.

Ride the FASTEST train in the world!

Maglev Train Station Shanghai, Longyang Road, Pudong, Shanghai, China

Get to and from the airport in 7-10 minutes on the Maglev Train (19mi!). Seriously, this train goes around 200 MPH - super fast!
